Our Farm

We love the earth! When we started Tantalus Botanicals, we knew that the most important part of our small business was to respect and restore the land that we were so privileged to work on. After decades of abandonment and destruction by invasive species, the soil had become compacted and held very little water or nutrients. As we went, we restored old patches of flowers and planted new ones using regenerative techniques, building terraces and supple mulch piles, favoring crops that could be grown under the canopy of the trees already here, and luring worms, birds and bees into the places we’ve restored. Seeing hillsides of impenetrable strawberry guava turn into an oasis of rich organic soil and bright flowers has been the most satisfying part of the process. This meaningful engagement creates a connection between the earth and the art we create, and I hope we are able to share this with you.⁣
